Assiette hasn't completely closed its doors. This gastro sanctuary has just been transformed into a casual dining restaurant now called Albion Street Kitchen. Compared to Assiette's fine dining ambience, Albion Street Kitchen has a more casual approach with their food and vibe.
Freshly baked bread |
A freshly baked bread drizzled with abit of rosemary infused olive oil was a nice start to the dinner.
Seared veal tongue, sweetbreads, pickled turnip, almonds |
Grilled prawn, avocado, corn bread, burnt capsicum |
The complimentary grilled prawn, avocado, corn bread, burnt capsicum was an absolute seafood delight. The cornbread's flavour reminded me of crab and corn soup.
Pork Belly, salted caramel apple, heirloom carrots, gingerbread spice |
An amazing pork belly, salted caramelapple, heirloom carrots, gingerbread spice was our main dish ($30). The porkwas very tender and juicy. It was a blissful moment when this dish made its wayto my palate. A big piece of light pork crackling took this main to anotherlevel of deliciousness.
Honeycomb parfait & ice cream, fennel ice cream, pinenut praline |
There were so much attention to detailthat went into every plate. Every single component in every dish showedtechnique and passion. The menu may be small, but the dishes are extravagant indelicious flavours.
